Hi all, while I know I fall into the ugly cake catagory my cake flavors are always swooned over and people (non family and friends) are asking for cakes for weddings and birthdays. Since I cannot eat the price of the cakes for friends of friends, I have turned them down.
Well a friend's MIL has a very small breakfast/lunch restaurant and I met with her last night and took her some samples and she is very happy and dare I say excited to rent kitchen space to me at a price I never dreamed I would get.
I also took her pictures and explained to her that I am a baker before a decorator but I am trying to hone my decorating skills so she knows I'm not a "the Ace of Cakes". She said that she knows of a couple of people in her circle who have children getting married this year but were looking for a new baker because while the few local bakers had stunning designs their cakes did not taste good.
I am going through all the proper channels and will be legal. I'm just so excited I had to share!!! Kind hearted people are such a blessing!!!
Ditto on what everyone else said. I understand your desire to continue improving on your decorating skills, but your cakes look really great. Part of owning a business is knowing how to sell yourself. Never play down your work or make any negative remarks about it (especially in front of a potential client). If you don't believe 100% in your product, why should anyone else?

Right before I posted I read an "ugly cake" post and yes I know it was in no way aimed at me but those always hit me hard because of the huge amount of talent on here it kinda gave me the I'm not worthy feeling. So thanks again!!!!!
