Need help getting rice paper to stick well to fondant. (On my trial run, luckily) I tried using corn syrup and crisco. (Not both at once)

For our 5 year book club anniversary I'm making a book cake that is going to have two books stacked and then one open book. The open book is going to represent our sign-in register- and i'm copying a page (or two) out of it onto rice paper.
Should i just use buttercream on this cake instead of fondant?

I always use corn syrup on mine and haven't had a problem before. Wonder if you lightly mist the fondant where you want the picture to go....

you can also use piping gel spread very thinly or crisco. If try putting the paper on the fondant right away, sometimes it doesn't stick with crisco, but if you wait for it to dry a little, then it will.
