I hate those type of inquiries.

That's the whole price. I don't discount icon_evil.gif If someone wants a cake from me they are GOING to pay.

Yea, I dont really discount either, but it irks me to receive a message like that. I knew you guys would see the "humor" in it.

I'm sorry we don't do "nothing special" cakes. All cakes that leave here are special!

I like this. Maybe I should use it next time.

I'm not sure what that means either. I would want any cake for any occasion to be special.

nothing special=pretty but cheap

Too many variables to give a proper quote:

a. buttercream or fondant?
b. how many servings will you need?
c. design (from basic to sugar flowers, etc.)
d. square, round, other shape?
e. whatever other details might fit under the 'nothing special' category.

Nothing special to me mean three plain tiers.

When I get these, I think, "okay, just let me pull my crystal ball out of my butt for you."

We need details before a final quote...

nothing special, means a cheap price. just had that same request. had to tell them, i couldn,t do it. then they will say, its just really simple. i tell them, we(decorators) put our heart and soul into what we bake and decorate. so nothing is simple. 1 layer, 1 tier, 3 tiers, etc. it not simple. that is how i feel , anyway.

Turns out the 3 tiers need to feed 25 people.

Should I assume I only charge her for the 25 she needs and disregard all the other servings you get from the 3 tier cake?

Of course. She only needs 25. Why on earth would you think about ripping her off for the rest? Sheesh. Some people.

Juuuuuuuust kidding. icon_biggrin.gif

Hmmmm....unless you have mini pans, I don't see how this would be feasible, unless one was a dummy tier. Read the serving charts and see what is close. Tell her "I can do X amount of servings or Y amount of servings in the style you are asking for."

You can't make 25 servings into a wedding cake, maybe with cupcakes, but I've never done it. Even my smallest three tier 4, 6, and 8 is around 50 servings, and that is small.

Yeah, I told her we had to work something out because it wasn't possible for 25. No answer. Lets see what happens.

I LOOOOOOVE those. Especially the "just 6 servings". Yup, I get those every now and then! icon_rolleyes.gif

...umm when she calls back ask if she's tried that approach with a car dealer. Geeze Mr. Fudpucker, I'm looking for 'nothing special' in an SUV.. but you see there are only 2 of us so of course you'll only charge us like you would a 2-seater.

.. or let's try that at a pizza place---gimme the large, but there's only me so I'll just pay for one person...

yea, whatever!
