Got word of a cake competition coming up next month and thinking of entering. mainly just for the knowledge and critique. Any tips?
Thanks!
I agree, read the rules carefully. I think one of the most important elements is neatness, and of course attention to detail. Don't forget to give some attention to your cakeboard too. It should be neatly covered and at least 2 to 3" bigger than the cake.
It is a fun and great learning experience! Have fun and enjoy the experience!
I'm in GA also. Do you mind sharing where the competition is? I havent ever entered one and think it would be alot of fun. Thanks for the info

Sure. it's 3/21 at the Clarkston Conf Center at DeKalb Tech. website is pattycakescreations.com I just got a phone call one saturday evening informing me about it.
I thought that there would be more "rules" but only 3: no dummies, base 14" + and height 24" +. I've been planning on the design in my head. time to start making some sketches. i've only done one cake that's been that high, but time to start challenging myself to move forward.
Thanks for the link for the competition hints. I will definately check that out. I always have a hard time doing searches in the forums. i never find subjects that i'm actually looking for.
