Need Help...macaroons And Almond Paste Question??

i'm making some macaroons for the first time today but noticed that many of the recipes called for blanched ground almonds?? can i substitute almond paste from a can? are they one in the same? thanks!

Not sure about that...btw if you're making the traditional French pastry (cookie), it's spelled macaron. icon_biggrin.gif

They're 2 different things. For macarons, you must use the blanched ground almonds.

thanks! i just bought a can of the almond paste and there is a recipe on it for macaroons, yea!

I was searching for posts and threads on "macaron" (the french pastry) and came upon your post. Do you mind sharing the recipe on the almond can and also your experience if you made it?
