Yay!!! If he wants to spend time meeting with you AND he said that he has some great news that sounds promising to me! If it were a 100% no he would've said that over the phone or an email.
I think if you really show him that you want this really bad, that you are responsible and not hot headed he will help you.

i just wanted to add...i have a storefront, and was not required to get one of those hoods(tho i was told i would), with an electric oven.
keep going...persistance pays off...most peeps give up to soon.
