A Birthday Cake As A Gift Question

Hi all!
My boyfriend has a great male friend and it is his wifes birthday on the 30th. My boyfriend wants me to befriend her so that we can go on double dates and the like-so I thought I'd make her a surprise bday cake as a way to show friendship-the only problem is I know nothing about her. Have you all had to learn sneaky ways to find things out about your clients? Colors they like etc-and how did you do it?
I would just ask her husband, but I think he would be clueless about this LOL I don't want to do the basic cake with flowers and happy bday, but I also don't want to do something more creative that doesn't represent her. Gah!
Any suggestions would be great <3
I think I'd just do a mini purse cake or something along those lines. After all, you have no way of knowing if someone else is also planning a cake for her.
I think you should ask her husband, that way he knows not to buy her a cake at the grocery store, and I'm sure he has some idea what she likes.
How about a heart cake..write on it Best Friends Forever. Give her half and you can keep the other half.
just joking. how old is she?
I agree with the package/gift box cake. See if you can find out what her favorite colors are and do the gift box in that color. The husband should at least know that much. ... or at least maybe the colors used in their wedding
Ask if she has a facebook page and if she would mind being facebook friends. You could read her profile and see if you could find some ideas of what she likes. I also like the box idea. What about a Tiffany Box?
