I want to do something similar to the cake below posted by freubelmuisje. I'm not sure how to make the little tulips - do I put them on toothpicks, and would the leaves be made from fondant or royal icing? Any tips would be appreciated!

If you make a thin little stick of fondant and let it dry, it will be strong enough to hold up the little blossom and that way no toothpicks in the cake. I would just use frosting (BC or RI) for the leaves.

That cake is so cool!
