I am rather new to the cake decorating realm and have been using the Wilton recipe for for buttercream. Is there another buttercream similar which doesn't crust and crack? I am looking for something smoother and easy to color. amy

Welcome to CC! I see you joined a while back but still fairly new icon_smile.gif The recipes section has a lot of great stuff - though I'm sure others will chime in and give you their faves!

I have used sugarshack's recipe, using hi-ratio shortening, but I wasn't as crazy about the flavor and am going to fiddle with it a little. Indydebi's recipe is great, buttercream dream is pretty close to Wilton's with a few tweaks. I personally enjoy using a French meringue buttercream - it doesn't crust but it is amazingly delicious!!!
