Help.. Fine Border Advise

I am doing a cake for today.
It will be transported about 20 minutes away.
It is a stacked cake and I am doing a fine loop border (from Martha Stewarts wedding book) tip number 2.
I am wondering if this border wold travel better if I did it in butter cream or royal icing.
ANY help is welcome!!!!!
