I'm going to be making a humidor cake and would like advice on how to get my fondant to look like wood. I've order satin ice, white and brown but don't want it to be a smooth brown color. I would like it to have the wood grain look. ANy adive on how I can accomplish this? (I don't have an airbrush tool).

What colors would you mix? or would you paint on it? or are there other tricks to get the effect of wood?

Thanks!

On an episode of the cake boss on TLC, he made a pool table. He scratched the fondant with a tool and painted it with something that the color became darker where it seeped into the grooves. I'll try and find the episode.

Been searching for a video ... can't find it.
I'm thinking you'd make a mixture of brown food coloring with vodka or lemon juice and paint it on.
I hope somebody can help you better!
