Fondant "woven" Basket

There have been several beautiful "woven" baskets on CC. Is there anyone out there willing to share instructions or know of a tutorial. I love the look and would like to make one.

One way would be to make large woven "mat" on a flat surface, then wrap it around the cake. Otherwise, you are going to have the vertical pieces hanging and needing support while placing the horizontal slats.. Keeping it flat, you could also keep it covered with plastic wrap as you go so it won't dry out as much.
Use a tape measure or string to measure the circumference of the cake, then make your rectangle that # by the height of the tier (maybe add a little to allow for trimming after).
