I have 14 cakes that I need to ice tomorrow. Should I ice them while they are frozen, or is better to defrost them (wrapped, right?) and then ice them?

never ice a frozen cake! You need to defrost it first. You will have lots of problems with your frosting when your cake starts to sweat from the condensation.

I have iced frozen cakes. It may depend on the type of icing you use, mine is crusting BC (1/2 butter 1/2 shortening)
It's fine for uncolored icing, and let it thaw/dry completely.
