Has anyone used the cake jacks on your cakes instead of dowel rods? If so, how did they compare?

Yes, I have a set. I like them, and I like that they are adjustable. But they are expensive, and so I only feel like I can use them in cakes where I'm attending the function until the end, so I'll be sure to get them back.

Which means that I very rarely use them. icon_rolleyes.gif

I find it easier to use Wilton's large hollow plastic "hidden dowels" and cut them to size with a steak knife, and kiss them goodbye with the cake.
