Labeling Question For Home Bakeries
Business By cakemeasIam Updated 10 Jan 2010 , 8:27pm by confectionsofahousewife
anyone need to put ingredients on their boxes? if so...where do i start?
do i start with sugar, flour, eggs, etc...and etc...
the health dept believe it or not...was vague!
thanks!
Usually the list is most to least, like flour, then sugar working your way down to salt, spices etc. In Ohio you have to list everything, take flour you have to list the kind of wheat, if it is enriched then the iron, niacin and so on. If you make cookies with m&m's you have to list the ingredients from the m&m bag.(read the ingredients sometime). I got my info from the dept. of Agriculture.
Hope this helps, Good luck
Jo
Most to least is how I understand it. In our state, we only have to list on individual items, unless it's wholesale.
I believe there's a sticky somewhere here to print your own nutritional lables out...
Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I do have a question. Are you in St.Louis county or city? I was under the impression that neither allowed home bakeries.
tag words- nutritional ingredients, labels information. i found it in the forum - cake biz.
i am actually 80 miles south of st louis- small town - Farmington.
