I have done them before but I am supposed to do another one this weekend, and I was wondering if i can just put it on the iced cake or do i have to put the layer of icing on the back? I just hate that part sticking up... any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Another poster asked a very similar question yesterday. I was saying that if you are making, say a 9x13, you can simply make your whole FBCT a 9x13 "plaque" so that it would simply go on as an entire top. You simply fill in all around the actual picture with the same color you icing the rest of the cake. Another person suggested using a smaller tip - possibly? I don't think it will make much of a difference in how much it sits up if you simply choose to not ice the back of it. However, if it is thoroughly frozen when you go to place it, it should not matter that you did not place a final layer of bc on the backside.
