...with using Wilton stock photos for advertising? I'm just a hobby baker but I cringe when I see adds on Kijji advertising cakes (licensed characters at that) where 80% of the pictures are stock photos? The photos that they do have of cakes they have made look very amateur compared to what they are advertising they can do. I just feel bad for the customer who will undoubtedly be disappointed with their cake. Shouldn't this type of advertising be illegal?

It is illegal. Wilton doesn't give permission to use their photos. For that matter, the character pans are not for commercial use...they've all got "for home use only" marked on them, because it's not legal to sell cakes baked in those shapes.
