I made a cake this weekend for a friend of my husband to give to his wife for her birthday. She absolutely loved it (yay) and would like to keep the little owl figures I made for the top of the cake. They are made of fondant (Michele Foster's recipe). Will they just last indefinitely? They're hard at this point so I'm thinking that's fine. I don't think they'll go bad or moldy or anything, right?

Has anyone ever kept a fondant figure for the long term?

I had a scarecrow I did out of fondant in a cake box for over 5 years. The only thing that happened was his purple pants faded. I've also had other items that I made and saved for many of years.
