Hi,
I am trying to find out what cake alcamy (sp?) use under her bee hive cake on todays repeat show. She said it was easy to make and not many people knew about it.

It was called something like crystal sugar.. but it was this thing in foil that was lumpy?

I don't know but if anyone does please share...

Thanks,.. I just pick up on the little things and try to learn more about them. The show drives me crazy yet there is always something to leran how to do or not do.

I've read about making sugar crystals in one of my cake books but I've never seen them in a bowlish form like the one under Cake Alchemy's beehive. That is the piece you mean right?
I've never tried making them myself but the info I have is that the crystals are grown on a string. Not sure how you could get the crystals as big as Cake Alchemy's.
Hopefully one of the gals that works with sugar will pop in here pretty quick and help you out.. Like K8.. She'll know!

I'll send her a note! icon_biggrin.gif

Here's a couple of links on making sugar crystals you can check out in the meantime..

So sorry--I never saw that show and I've worked with sugar some but maybe an idea is to check out the different gourmet recipes on Lorann oils.
