Does anyone ever use painters tools for decorating?

I painted the inside of my house last week, and I went ahead and bought some special tools to help make the job easier. So I'm looking at these tools while I was painting and though "you know this could make a really sharp edge on buttercream!" And I've also seen some faux's and stamps that would be neat to try also.

So has anyone ever done that? If they are brand new are they sanatary? If not how could you make it sanatary? What tools have you tried?

I'd really like to hear all about it.

I have used brand new spackle spatulas

I saw a video a while back ago...the lady used the textured paint rollers (again brand new) on her buttercream cake, it was actually pretty neat.

The Melvira method of smoothing buttercream involves using a high density foam roller to smooth your crusted buttercream. It works really well.
