I want to make some for an Xmas party this weekend, but was just wondering if there's a certain size they should, or should not, be.

Golf ball sized? Smaller? Bigger?

The ones I've seen in pictures seem to be about golf ball sized, but it's hard to tell in a photo when that's all that's there.

Golf-ball sized seems quite large, IMO. I prefer them to be about a tablespoon in size, prior to dipping in chocolate.

You can buy a little cookie dough disher (aka little ice cream scoop) for this purpose. Wilton sells them at Michaels and Wal-Mart has a stainless steel Oneida brand cookie disher.

Thanks, Sherri. I didn't end up having the time to make them for this weekend, but I kept the excess cake trimmings, so maybe I'll do it next week for the family and see how it goes.

Nice idea about the mini-ice cream scoop. Kinda like a melon baller, I guess. I'll have to check that out.
