I need to make a gift to give to a friend. She is not a close friend, but I know that she is a special education teacher and a runner. I'd love to make her something special that pertains to (or is useful for) her teaching or running.

I can sew pretty well, and knit. I don't really want to do a food gift, as I want to make her something that lasts.

This can be a Christmas gift if I want, but it doesn't have to be. Technically I have until the end of January to make it and give it to her (although it would be nice to finish it by Christmas if I can).

Any ideas?

My running must-haves are a small pouch for my ID and keys. A wrist wallet type pouch with zipper pocket and velcro closure would be easy to sew. I did a quick google and saw prototypes for these at Burda Style and Etsy.

The other must-have is a fleece or knit headband or beanie for cold weather running.
