Today, I was so proud of the cake I prepared; the fondant was perfect! After delivering it to a friend, I saw that the sides were bulging. Can someone help me solve this problem so it doesn't happen again?

Thanking you all in advance!

I guess it could be a few things. I had this problem last week and thought it was the heat here and the fact that I'd used white choc ganache under my fondant. Still don't know if that was definitely it though.

What did you fill the cake with? Is there a chance that it bulged out the sides after fondant went on? Did you use a dam for your filling to help keep it in? Did you give your cake time to 'settle' before putting the fondant on? Perhaps an air bubble under the fondant which grew as the cake settled?

its really important to let your cake settle before you put fondant or your final bc on the cake.
i try to let mine settle for 12-24 hours.
your damn needs to be strong enough to support your filling.
