Im making a 12 in square and covering it in Buttercream. Can anyone tell me how to properly do this on Buttercream? Ive done it before on fondant, piece of cake and went over it with the embosser tool. Thanks

You want to make sure that you are using a crusting buttercream, once the crust has formed, lay the impression mat on the cake as you would if it were fondant and gently press. I've found that I can't press as hard on the icing as I can on fondant, but it gives a nice look.

I've tried the impression mat on buttercream frosting. I had the problem of keeping the pattern aligned. After I finished I had double impressions that I did not plan for. I was thinking maybe the diamond cutter would be better to use. I have the clear plastic mat that isn't too flexable. Any suggestions? icon_cry.gif
