You can use regular gel colors and thin it with clear alcohol. To make it look like wood, I have seen (on TV) that they use a fan brush to create the pattern.

I have a baby figurine I would like to colour. What kind of gel colours? The same gel colours used to colour fondant? What kind of alcohol? Sorry this is my first attempt. I am a newbie and I would like to start painting on my cakes. Thanks

yeh you can use the wilton or americolor gel pastes to paint with and can use everclear or a vodka to mix it with them.

Also make sure you don't mix too much alcohol or you will end up with a very watercolour look, unless that is what you are going for icon_smile.gif
