Hey all,
I'm a newbie and am sure this is a simple thing but I could really use any ideas. I need to get a cake that is 4 inches tall but only have 3 inch pans. Should I cut the cake into thirds or not? Thanks all I just love this site so helpful!

I bake two layers in my 3 inch pans. They're taller than the layers I get from my 2 inch pans, but by the time I level them, my tiers end up just about 4".

I only ever bake in 3 inch pans. I torte and fill twice. After the frosting is applied, I easily come up with my 4 inches in height.
