A lot of people paint fondant accents or royal with gold color. I need to do a white and gold cake for this weekend, and I'm having trouble getting a gold color. I have gold luster dust, lots of yellow food colors, as well as gold. Can anyone help me how to achieve a gold effect? Thanks in advance.
when i am doing gold accents i mix up luster withh alchol to make a paint then use a good quality paint brush and just paint a few layers on.
I've never done it, buy yesterday i was watching ace of cakes and they start by coloring whateaver they are painting a good yellow color first, and then applying the gold.
I have found that the best gold color is achieved by painting the luster dust onto brown.
wow, I would have never thought of painting luster on brown. I'll give a pratice try. I'll try yellow also - thanks.
