Checkerboard Cake - 4 Layers?

I have a request for a pink and white checkerboard cake but I'd love to make it into 4 layers (give it a little more height.)
I can't imagine why this wouldn't work, as long as I am sure to alternate the pink outside with pink inside layers. The cake is supposed to be 3 layers, but has anyone made it into 4?

nevermind, was a moot point, I ran out of batter and didn't want to make more.
