I Entered My First Cake Decorating Contest...

... and walked away with second place and 75 bucks.
It was a small contest, only about 12 cakes were entered. But I still felt pretty awesome! And I believe I might would've had a better chance at the number one spot if I had been able to smooth my icing out better. That's something I'm having to work on.
The cakes were auctioned off to benefit a local charity. And the family who got my cake were just perfect for it. There had been a Halloween costume contest before the auction began and their son was dressed up as Snoopy! I got a picture of him with the cake. Too cute!
The cake's in my pictures!
Congratulations! It's a great cake
This weekend I tried the Melvira method with the foam roller...just for laughs I told the old guy at Home Depot who works in the paint department what I was buying the roller for, should have seen his face
Anyhow, it works really well and it will get rid of exactly the part that was bothering you
Thanks, everyone! I'll have to try the foam roller idea!
and Mencsh, I love that quote in your signature!
