Hi all,

Can someone please provide guidance on how to achieve the quilted effect on a fondant cake? Do I use an impression mat, and if so, do I put the impression on before or after the fondant is on the cake?

Thanks!

With a fondant covered cake, put the fondant on, smooth it over the cake, take the impression mat, imprint while fondant is still soft, then take a quilter or roller, and go over the lines to make the lines deeper so they will be more noticeable.

the best way for buttercream is the impression mat.. the best way for fondant is the 3 diamond impression cutter.. jennifer dontz demos this in her dvd and sharon zambito demos the impression mat on buttercream.. using the impression cutter makes a big difference on the fondant.. hth
