Those are beatiful, but I wonder if the ones mentioned by cake girl are not made of gelatin. Because the site mentions "sugar creations" and the look of them when you enlarge the picture. I took a gelatin class where we made butterflies but I never could achieve that multicolor look. Only a single color butterfly.

Another way would be to try using isomalt with candy molds and just keeping it thin.

I'm pretty sure those butterflies are sugar, hard candy. Reading over the site and looking at the pictures, it all looks like hard candy. I don't know how you would make them. My experience with cooked sugar is extremely minimal. Perhaps you could find or make a mold.

They look like shaped hard sugar, some of the others are molded.
There is a silver foil under each wing to make them shiny. You could have the black lines on the foil to get that look.
