Here's a vegan recipe, if that's the reason you need to use soy. It pipes beautifully!

1/2 cup nonhydrogenated shortening
1/2 cup nonhydrogenated margarine
3 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 cup plain soy milk or soy creamer

Bet the shortening and margarine together until well combined and fluffy. Add the sugar and beat for about 3 more minutes. Add the vanilla and soy milk, beat for another 5 to 7 minutes until fluffy.

I use Sugar Shack's recipe but I use Silk coffee creamer and add vanilla and any other flavors I want to it. I also use Half Hi-ratio shortening and half Earth Balance vegan butter spread and it comes out delicious!!!

If you are using a box mix be sure to read read read... the labels
This might help you.

Sodium casientate is also a milk derived.

Even things that say None-dairy in fact contain dairy ingredients!
