Can anyone suggest which colors are best to mix to get a soft sage green color?

I like Wilton's Juniper color for sage green.

I work with green, yellow and a bit of brown...starting with the green and add a touch of yellow then a touch of brown. Only add a toothpick touch until you get the right color
