I have an order for a penguin cake and after doing some research I see that you can use the stand up teddy bear pan..has anyone used this and if so is it easier then just carving a cake? i always find those pans hard to use because you can never get the darn cake out....

I've used the bear pan to make a 3D Elmo. the pan comes in two pieces and is held together by these clamps that come with the pan. you assemble the pan, fill it with batter, insert the heating core and bake away. I always prepare my pan generously with cake release and I have had no problem getting the cake out of the mold. HTH.
