Got a call from my friend today asking to make a cake for her daughter that will be turning 9 at the end of the month . She requested only buttercream .

She told me to use my creativity and that she didn't know exactly what to go with (design wise) .

So my brain is on pause right now and i can't seem to come up with something that would suit a 9 yr old .... Can you PLZ!! help me .

She is a girly girl

TIA

Julie

At that age I would think you couldn't go wrong with pink glitter and roses!

I like to know a little bit about a person and what they like, does she like Hanna Montana or Ballet or the beatles(lol) kidding, and then go from there.......I love to make girly cakes haha..you may find something there.......I have a 10 year old grand daughter....so maybe some of her cakes would be some help.

That is more than cute, its so... adorable. I'm sure any 9 yr old will love it. Also they love tinkerbell, castle and doll cakes.

Auntginn,
you could do the tinkerbell tree top cake that's in Wilton's 2009 yearbook page 32.

Here is what the cake looks like:

That age is also about the time that mine got into purses, bright colors... I mean the ones that are bright and blinding... lol. I think the tinkerbell is a sure fire bet!

My dd isn't much younger & that age is where they start wanting to be girly. Glitz, glamour, sparkle, jewelry, makeup, hair. Bright colors; pink, green, purple, blue. Take a look at Hannah Montana, Taylor Swift, iCarly to get some ideas. You might ask the mom her interests, if she's girly, colors she DOESN'T like. Another craze right now is Twilight. I know parents differ on what they allow for their kids, so you might ask about that one.

You're very welcomed. Yes, this site is awesome and the people here are wonderful too and very helpful. I'm hooked. Let us all know what you decide and please post photos. My 6 yr old begged me for the tink treetop cake, so I'm surfing and searching for ways to make it without having to buy the $50 tall tier cake stand and my hubby & I came up with an idea.
