Help does anyone know of a recipe that is like the chocolate frosting on hostess chocolate cupcakes, you know the frosting that's kinda firm I guess you would say? If anyone has a recipe like this can you please share it with me? I need it to cover a bday cake for a friend's child, they asked if I could make the frosting like that. Thanks!

Welcome to posting on CC!

I made my regular fudge icing, melted it py placing over warm water just to a nice pourable consistancy, and then glazed the cake. I was told it was like the hostess cupcake but bigger. I was not happy about it at the time, but maybe it will help you.

I use chocolate ganache for those type of cupcakes. Just dip and let sit to firm up.

6 oz bittersweet chocolate
1 tbsp butter
1/2 c heavy cream
2 tsp vanilla

heat the cream and butter and pour over the chocolate. Let stand for 5 min and whisk until smooth. Add vanilla. Let stand until cool but still glossy.

I'll usually add a couple of tbsps of confectioners sugar to sweeten it up a bit icon_biggrin.gif
