I have seen a shoe box cake on this site with the gumpaste tissue paper the box top a little open with the tissue paper coming out, can anyone tell me how to make the shoe box come open with out it sliding off the top of the box? Can anyone tell me how to make the whole cake?

Just make a regular box cake and decorate it as desired, make a lid with GP or a layer of cake with base of course and decorate, put the top of the box a little offset and roll the GP or fondant very, very thin so it looks like paper and fill the gaps with it. HTH

When I made mine - I just took a 9x13 and cut it in two. And then stacked it.
