Hi everyone--
I'm ecstatic to hear that MI has proposed a potential cottage food bill. I've rallied my friends and family to contact their state representatives to help push this bill through.
In the meantime, I've contacted a million churches, community centers, etc. trying to find a rental kitchen. I've had no success and am becoming quite discouraged. Do any of you metro Detroiters know of existing kitchens willing to rent space? I live in Oakland County, but am willing to travel if need be.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice! You guys are fantastic!

Kristi

Dear Kristi,

My experience has been that calling on the phone or placing an ad gets me no where. I have to go in person. I think there's something about seeing a person and talking face to face. This allows the owner to get a feel for you and you have a chance to let your personality shine.

Pound the pavement and start physically looking at everything nearby that might make sense. Get a price in mind. When you find a few YES places, evaluate them - do a pros/cons list.

You'll find something.
