I recently did a Chicago Bears Groom's cake for my son in law. I did buttercream with fondant accents and logo. I started with Satin Ice blue fondant (almost a royal blue) and added black until I achieved the dark, dark blue. It took a while but it finally was the correct color. A photo of the cake is in my photos. I would suggest adding black color gel with blue color gel. Good luck with it!

I use Royal Blue, Black, and Purple. The black and blue alone didn't seem to work, but adding the purple in really did the trick!
