Can you freeze a cake with gumpaste decorations on it, and if so, for how long? I agreed to make a large cake for a birthday party and planned to use gumpaste decorations on the top and sides. Date of party just changed and I will be out of town the entire week before, including the date of the party. I can make the cake and put it in the freezer before I leave and make arrangements for someone to deliver it, but I am new to using gumpaste and am unsure if it will hold up ok. If not gumpaste, how about royal icing?
Cake will have about 4 hours to thaw before being served.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I keep gumpaste in the freezer to keep it soft, I am not sure if you decorations will stay hard in the freezer...I'm not an expert but my instinct would tell me no
