I'm making a dump truck cake, and I want to cover the cake board with royal icing and let it dry to look like dirt/sand. Anyway - I'm wondering (because I want to raise the truck up some for the wheels) - can I use hot glue to glue cake boards on top of royal icing - or do I need to mark off where I want the cake and not put any royal icing down there. I glue cardboards down all the time - but didn't know if this would work over royal or not. Any ideas?

I used bottle cap(off gallon jugs of soda)s to raise my car up, however I forgot to cover cake board and the moisture soaked into it making the car lose its foundation grrrr......its a learning thing...
