I am going to try and attempt my first high heeled shoe--I found a template and it looks doable. I want the sole of the shoe to be black, but can't decide if I should make it white and then paint it once it is dried or color my gumpaste black first? I don't have an air brush so I would have to hand paint with gel color. Has anyone had success coloring white gumpaste black?

Thanks in advance, any advice is greatly appreciated!

I've painted white gumpaste black before. It works. It can take a lot of color to get it as dark as you want and it can take a long time to dry. You might be happier with the result if you color it first, at least to a gray color, and then it wouldn't take as much color to get it black.
