The bride wants big sunflowers and delphiniums on top of her cake, I don't the best way to get them on there. I've thought about laying wax paper or parchment down and putting a mound of icing and sticking them in there. Would it be better to use a small cake round instead? Should I try to make an arrangement and just lay it on? I picked up the sunflowers yesterday and the stems are about as thick as my pinkie, they won't fit into any picks that I have.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

What did you end up doing? I'm assuming that the wedding was today?
