I am making a salmon for my husband's 40th, on their "skin" they have a small diamond pattern, similar to a snake. Any ideas what I can press onto the fondant to achieve that result? It is like small diamonds.

Do you have a new plastic bath sponge? The sort you can buy in dollar store or similar? When you cut the string holding it together, you get a plastic netting. Either cut a piece and use this as impression mat, or put the "sock" on your rolling pin.

Could you use a big tip - like a 10 or a 12 to impress in the fondant - if you just used one side of it, it would look like scales IMO. (makes kind of like a "C" )
