I am making a 3d standing lego man for my sons birthday. I am making the legs from rice krispie treats and then putting another board above the legs to hold the actual cake portion. I bought a pipe with two fittings that will screw onto the top of the bottom board and the bottom of the top board. My dad said that because the pipe is galvanized that it wouldnt be good to use with food because of the zinc in it. I still want to use the pipes, because if all else fails i can just make sure no one eats the RKT that. But i just dont want to make anyone sick. Does anyone have some experience with this sort of stuff, could the galvanized pipe make someone sick? any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I don't have any experience with it...but maybe you could wrap the pipe in plastic wrap or, even better, press and seal wrap, so that you wouldn't worry.

I would go back to the hardware store and get PVC instead. I've done it and it holds well.
