Hi there, I'm making cookies for my brother-in-law's 40th birthday. Party is tomorrow night, 3 hours away, and my sister begged me to do this. I'm a cake girl - not a cookie girl. I tried a recipe for sugar cookies, they came out great! So tonight I made the recipe again. Against better judgment I did NOT add a smidge more flour even though I thought the dough looked too wet. The dough's been refrigerated for 4 hours and still wet/sticky. Tried baking a batch, they spread out all over the place. The first time I did this they were perfect...all perfectly uniformly sized!

So my question is this: may I add a little more flour and either knead it in or mix it in using my stand mixer? Can you do that to dough that's already been refrigerated? I don't have the time to start this process all over again so any help someone can give me ASAP would be VERY much appreciated! thank you!!
