How Do I Get This Folded Effect With Fondant?
Decorating By sjholderman Updated 5 Sep 2009 , 10:47am by Rylan
Is it one piece folded up (painstaking) or several pieces somehow.. or impressed somehow?

I've seen it on a couple of cakes so I'd like the broader groups' opinion on the best way to do this.
TIA!
I think he said he made long pieces of fonant and wrapped around the cake and then overlapped the next ones.....I would pm rylan...is that a he or a she?
Rylan is extremely helpful. I'm sure he'd have no problems helping you out if you PM'ed him.
It is really easy to do. Cut long strips of fondant (1 inch x circumference of the cake). Roll it up like a tape, making sure that you dust it up so it doesn't stick. Put some edible glue on your cake and then start unrolling the fondant tape while you attach it around the sides. Just keep layering it until you reach the top. Let me know if you need any further clarification.
Ok, now I'm confused. I am quite sure I made the "mistake" of referring to Rylan in the masculine term before and was promptly corrected, by Rylan.....?!?!?!

I've seen the post too but I also saw another saying he was a guy (by Rylan himself).
Here are the 2 posts I saw:

and the other post:

I'm sure he was just pulling our leg on the other post we saw or maybe he just likes to keep us guessing
Either way I'm happy he's around!
Thanks xstitcher. I have to admit that you have been one of my favorite cakers in here.
To clarify all of you, I am not a man nor a woman. I am what I am. I am a caker.
And that's all that should matter.
Either way I'm happy he's around!
I agree
Well Since I am Just finding out you are a Guy, and not a Gal, I have to say it does not matter to me, I thought you were indeed a woman, I don' t want to sound rude, but I read in the other post that you are gay, If I aread correctly. I had some gay friends and they were the best people to be friends with, But I lost contact with them, so I will have to make you my new best friend, maybe we will meet face to face someday, Maybe ICES 2010, Because you make some out of the boxes cakes and I love them
Allison, you made me smile (I had a rough morning due to one CCer).
I am purely a woman at heart but masculine in the outside.
I'd love to meet you at the ICES convention! You seem such a nice person.
And that's all that should matter.
Either way I'm happy he's around!
I agree
ditto all the way around
and for what it's worth, gay or straight or anywhere in between, all very much equal in my book
I am glad I made your day, Always put GOD first, and don't let the little things bother you especially minor little details, people always try to get under your skin, that is the way the World is, even though they are a lot of very nice people out there, I am One of them or at least I think so, I try to do things for peolpe if and when I can, and am always Thankful that GOD, gives me a chance to share the things that I can For people, We have to thank him everyday for our lives, and for our Health and Strength,
GOD Bless you all and Have a great day
And that's all that should matter.
Either way I'm happy he's around!
I agree
I agree, I was just confused! Didn't want to step on anyones toes or offend!
Oh no Jamie, like I said, you can never offend me because you are so sweet. I was reffering to a different thread.
Anyways, THANKS everyone for the kind words. I feel like you are all my family.
Take care everyone.
