Has anyone ever shippped a cake? If so, how did you do it?

I've got a request to ship a cake to Georgia -- I'm in West TN.

I'm thinking of doing the cake in fondant and royal icing brush embroidery on the cake so not alot of risk in the cake sliding (other than the 2nd tier, which will be small).

Thanks!!

I would pack it in box after box and freeze it and put dry ice in the bottom of it. (That's what this cafe that I worked for did anyway). But they weren't fondant cakes. But those cakes were always in good condition when we got them.

I don't suggest you ship cakes especially with the summer heat.

It won't be until mid October.
