Does anyone know how to get really dark chocolate color in buttercrem? Mine always turns out light brown. Tastes wonderful, but I'd like it to be dark like devils food cake. Thought about adding brown paste food coloring, but am not sure if that's the answer.

Try adding unsweetened cocoa powder , and some icing sugar if it tastes bitter.

I use Hersheys 100% cocoa. But do not beat it to much though so it can keep that dark color. If you over beat it can look like a steel color I'm not sure why but I think it has something to do with the fat in the cocoa. I ve done it before so do not over mix. Hope this helps. thumbs_up.gif
