I have a bride who has requested edible diamonds for her cake. Has anybody use these? Do you make your own, buy them? I researched the cost, and they look pretty expensive. If you have made them, how was it? Also, I saw that there can be problems with them...placing them on the cake too soon can change them. In my case, the cake will be covered with SMBC. Would that not work at all?
I would love any input about these! Thank you so much.

First - I want to say that I have never used this method. But I have heard lots of good things about the product.

But anyway, you just buy a mold that you want and then buy a package of Isomalt. Follow the directions on the back of the package and then pour it into the mold. It will dry and look like a diamond.

I watched a demonstration and it was super easy.

I don't know how it would work with SMBC because SMBC is always soft unless you put it in the fridge. So that's probably what you would have to do. Unless they are really small, I'd be afraid that they would slide down the cake (if not refrigerated).
